The HSSIB recently published an investigative report on the impact of staff fatigue on patient safety. The study focused on staff throughout different areas of the NHS. The goal of the report is to help healthcare organisations, regulators and policymakers to better understand the risks staff fatigue poses to patients.
By exploring the experiences of NHS staff, and investigating various NHS systems and processes, the report offers an opportunity to identify where staff fatigue is a contributing factor to patient safety – and how to address it.
