The NHS and government have outlined a transformative plan this month to reduce waiting times and enhance patient care. Patients will benefit from faster access to tests and scans through direct GP referrals, bypassing the need for consultant appointments. The initiative aims to provide routine care to 90% of patients within 18 weeks, offering quicker diagnoses and treatments, often on the same day.

The ambitious plan aims to not only reduce waiting times but also improve the overall patient experience. NHS leaders are committed to supporting patients through timely care, with the goal of eliminating unnecessary delays and providing clearer paths for treatment.
