Case study

"I didn’t think we had the time to do this, but we made the commitment and we are reaping the benefits. PGP is time bound, focused and rewarding. A facilitator guided our sessions and we now have a structured approach we can apply again"

Sally Rickard, Practice Manager
Carnon Downs Surgery

What does it achieve?

A core part of NHS England’s Time for Care programme, PGPQS is a short-term support package designed to save practices valuable clinical and administrative time through implementation of more efficient and effective ways of working.

Who is this for?

PGPQS is ideal for general practice teams who need to be more efficient and productive, but who also need help in identifying and implementing solutions and ways forward that are best for their practice.

How it works

As part of NHS England’s Time for Care programme, PGPQS is a proven and extremely popular solution that really makes a difference for practices wanting to free up time and energy for more productive tasks. Practices have the opportunity to participate in two of eight core modules, with the choice being dependant upon the priorities and challenges that a particular to each practice. These modules include:

  • Appropriate Appointments
  • Clear Job Standards
  • Common Approach
  • Efficient Processes
  • Emails
  • Meeting, Interruptions and Frequent Attenders
  • Team Planning
  • Well Organised Practice

The PGPQS programme can be delivered on-site, on-line or via a mixture of both and is based on a combination of group learning days and practice-specific interventions. Xytal has successfully delivered PGPQS to over 700 practices so far, saving clinical and admin teams time and enhancing teamwork and morale.
